Deep Connection Within
Yogetsu Akasaka, the Japanese Zen Beatboxing Monk, teaches us how to use our voice to activate and heal our body and mind by focusing on the present moment. We all possess the power to activate and heal ourselves by resonating our body with our voice.
Yogetsu aims for his workshop to allow participants to experience how the frequencies made by their vocal cords activate and heal their body and mind, leading them towards a deep sense of connection with themselves.
In many spiritual traditions, we find that humans use their voices not only for communication of language or singing, but also for a deeper connection to themselves and the spiritual realm. According to modern science, singing or chanting can activate our brain, and people who chant regularly, such as Buddhist monks, often have a longer lifespan.
During the workshop, Yogetsu introduces optimal ways to warm up our vocal cords, starting from activating and relaxing the body before moving onto guide participants on opening themselves up to make vocal sounds.
Participants will experience that their body resonates not only with their voice, but also with the harmonies of the other participants' voices, resulting in emotional release, a deep meditative/flow state, and higher frequencies of consciousness. This often leads to a connection to our source.
